Bellows Completes Launch Tour of All 16 Counties

Monday, October 28, 2013Press Release

Democratic candidate for the United States Senate, Shenna Bellows, completed a tour of all 16 counties as part of her campaign launch.  Bellows visited Bangor, Damariscotta, Dover-Foxcroft, Eliot, Ellsworth, Farmington, Lewiston, Machias, Monroe, Portland, Presque Isle, Rockland, Rumford, Skowhegan, Topsham and Waterville.  Her final stop was in Rumford at 4:30 a.m. this morning to greet workers at the shift change at the Rumford Paper Mill in Oxford County.

“I am committed to hearing diverse perspectives and representing all the people of Maine,” said Shenna Bellows, Democratic candidate for the United States Senate.  “We’re building a grassroots movement from the ground up in all 16 counties in Maine because that’s the only way real change has ever happened.”

Shenna met with farmers in Aroostook and Waldo counties.  She heard from business leaders in Damariscotta and Portland.  She talked to union workers in Bangor and Rockland.  She listened to adult education and early childhood advocates in Piscataquis and Washington counties.

“People across Maine talked about the importance of investing in local economies and supporting our entrepreneurs and workers,” said Bellows.  “Politicians in Washington have favored the few at the expense of the many.  We need a fresh approach to our economic and environmental policies to move our country forward.”

The tour included a variety of events open to the public.  Shenna’s grandfather, Bill Bellows, hosted a gathering for seniors at his retirement community in Topsham.  Shenna’s mother-in-law, Carole Baldwin, opened her Skowhegan home to the public for a party on Saturday night.  Shenna even took time out to attend a Justice for Women law lecture in Portland and the installation of a pastoral staff team at the Columbia Street Baptist Church in Bangor.
